MOKOKCHUNG, JUN 26 (NPN): The Mokokchung District Bharat Scouts & Guides organized a one-day sports programme under the banner of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, carrying the theme “Quit Drugs, Choose Sports (Nasha Chhodo, Khel Apnao)” on June 25. The event, held at Mojabi Futsal Turf Ground, saw enthusiastic participation from students representing five schools in the district.
The programem featured separate competitions for boys and girls, with the girls’ section engaging in a penalty shootout while the boys contested in futsal. The initiative aimed to encourage young people to embrace healthy activities and steer clear of harmful substances.
The competitions concluded with spirited performances across both sections. In the Guides penalty shootout, Sunflower Patrol emerged champions, followed by Lily Patrol in second place.
In the Scouts futsal event, Elephant Patrol clinched the top spot, while Horse Patrol finished runners-up.
Earlier in the day, Dr. Madhavi, (probationer) from the Mokokchung district administration, addressed the students on the dangers of drugs and alcohol.
She emphasized that substance abuse damages both health and education, urging the youth to adopt positive hobbies such as sports and music. Dr. Madhavi further encouraged the students to aspire to become successful role models and contribute meaningfully to society.
