Census consultative meet in Zbto

DIMAPUR: Following an official circular from the district administration, a consultative meeting on Census 2027 was convened at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, Zunheboto, on June 26 to underscore the importance of accurate population enumeration and secure the cooperation of key stakeholders ahead of the nationwide exercise.
According to DIPR, the session was chaired by Dharam Raj, Deputy Commissioner and Principal Census Officer of Zunheboto, and attended by representatives of premier civil society organisations (CSOs) including Sümi Hoho, Sümi Kukami Hoho, Sümi Totimi Hoho, Sümi Kiphimi Kuqhakulu, Zunheboto Town Gaon Bura Association (ZTGBA), and all Gaon Buras under Zunheboto Sadar jurisdiction.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the direct link between demographic data and governance, remarking that “there is no choice regarding delimitation.” He emphasized that authentic and clean data was essential to ensure every region received its rightful share of development.
Issuing a caution against demographic anomalies such as duplicate or multiple entries, he urged stakeholders to closely monitor the process and ensure that every individual was counted exactly once. He noted that authentic census figures form the bedrock for administrative planning, fair resource allocation, targeted implementation of welfare schemes and political representation.
The meeting concluded with CSOs and village authorities pledging full support to the census machinery and issuing a collective appeal to village administrations to ensure that Census 2027 operations remain transparent, accurate and error free.
