MVYO to restrict govt vehicles within Meriema

DIMAPUR, JUN 29 (NPN): Meriema Village Youth Organisation (MVYO) has decided to restrict entry of government registered vehicles within Meriema jurisdiction starting July 1, 2026 over government’s failure to repair road.
In a letter addressed to the deputy commissioner (DC) Kohima, the MVYO stated that representation was submitted to the chief engineer PWD (NH) dated March 23, 2026 and June 12, 2026, requesting necessary action regarding repairing of NH-2 within Meriema jurisdiction. However, it said that despite repeated appeals, no effective action has been taken till date.
Therefore, MVYO said has decided to impose restrictions on movement of all government registered vehicles within the jurisdiction of Meriema until appropriate action was taken.
However, MVYO said police, paramilitary force, ambulances and other emergency medical service vehicles would remain exempted from the purview of the restriction. In view of the above, MVYO urged the DC to take note of its decision and extend necessary cooperation.
Meanwhile, MVYO reiterated appeal to the responsible department to address the issues raised in its representation at the earliest in the interest of the public.
