Phase 2 SEL training concludes in Kohima

DIMAPUR: The four-day, Phase 2 training of State Resource Group (SRG) on Social Emotional Learning (SEL), organised by Directorate of School Education and Samagra Shiksha (DSE & SS), in collaboration with Dream a Dream (DaD), a non-profit organisation, was held from June 9 to 12, 2026 at the SCERT Office, Kohima.
A press release by DaD informed that the initiative was part of on-going efforts to strengthen more inclusive and supportive school systems across the state. The four-day experiential programme brought together 33 trainers from Educational Block Resource Centre and two DIET Lecturers, who would lead the next phase of teacher capacity-building.
Building on earlier training, the second phase focused on deepening educators’ understanding of SEL and preparing them to support implementation at scale.
Facilitated by DaD, the sessions emphasised self-awareness, empathy and classroom practices that enable emotionally safe and engaging learning environments. Participants further engaged in reflective and practice-based exercises to strengthen their ability to respond to students’ emotional and developmental needs.
The release informed that officials from Samagra Shiksha highlighted on strengthening educators’ social and emotional competencies as key to improving student wellbeing, building confidence and creativity, and fostering stronger classroom relationships.
The trained SRG members would now support SEL implementation across 176 pilot schools and contribute to upcoming teacher training programmes in Nagaland, expanding the state’s efforts to integrate SEL into everyday teaching and learning.
