
DIMAPUR: Assam Rifles organised a series of community outreach initiatives in Nagaland, focusing on road safety awareness and tuberculosis prevention.
At Chenmoho village, a road safety awareness lecture was conducted to educate local residents, youth and military vehicle drivers on safe commuting practices and accident prevention.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from village authorities and youth, reinforcing collective responsibility towards safer roads.
Extensive awareness was imparted on traffic rules, the importance of helmets and seatbelts, dangers of overspeeding, driving under the influence and mobile phone usage while driving.
Deliberations also covered safe pedestrian practices, first aid response during accidents and the significance of traffic discipline.
Villagers expressed appreciation for the initiative and reaffirmed their commitment to adopting safe road practices.
Meanwhile, at Kiphire, Assam Rifles in collaboration with the District Hospital conducted a Tuberculosis (TB) awareness lecture under the 100 Days TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. The programme highlighted TB symptoms, transmission, prevention, early diagnosis and adherence to treatment.
Medical professionals emphasised that timely detection and completion of prescribed treatment are vital to eliminating TB.
As part of the initiative, 39 Assam Rifles personnel underwent TB screening and health check ups. The activity underscored Assam Rifles’ commitment to safeguarding the health of its personnel while supporting the Government of India’s mission for a TB free India.
Meanwhile, Assam Rifles organised a Pulse Polio Immunization Programme at Jalukie as part of its continued commitment towards community welfare and child healthcare initiatives.
The programme was conducted in coordination with the local Health Department with the objective of ensuring that every eligible child receives protection against poliomyelitis. A total of 61 children up to five years of age were administered the Pulse Polio vaccine during the drive.
Parents and guardians participated in the initiative and appreciated the efforts of Assam Rifles and the Health Department in safeguarding child health.
The event also served as a platform to create awareness on the importance of timely immunization and the collective responsibility of maintaining a polio free nation.
Such welfare initiatives, officials stated, play a vital role in strengthening healthcare awareness and improving community well being.
