Ao apex organizations serve 45-day ultimatum on School Education deptt

DIMAPUR, JUL 4 (NPN): Ao Senden, Watsu Mungdang and Ao Kaketshir Mungdang have served a 45-day ultimatum on the department of school education (DoSE), demanding immediate measures to address the persistent shortage and uneven distribution of teachers in government schools across Mokokchung district.
The ultimatum follows the submission of a comprehensive report based on visits to 192 government schools, which highlighted an acute shortage of subject teachers, particularly in Science, Mathematics and Languages, besides exposing the imbalance in the deployment of teaching staff.
In the ultimatum addressed to commissioner and secretary, school education on July 3, the three organisations asked the department to complete the rationalisation of teachers and ensure the recruitment and deployment of qualified subject teachers in the affected schools within 45 days of receiving the notice.
They said quality education was a fundamental right of every student and expressed concern that the prolonged delay in addressing the staffing crisis had adversely affected the academic future of thousands of students in the district.
While expressing hope that the state government would act promptly and sincerely, the three bodies warned that failure to meet their demands within the stipulated period would compel them to launch appropriate democratic and public actions in the interest of students and the education sector.
