Tripura CM woos intl investors

Agartala, Jul 5 (PTI): Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Sunday asserted that investors and entrepreneurs are keen to invest in the northeastern state, taking advantage of an industry-friendly atmosphere that ensures an improved law and order situation, availability of raw materials and simplified policies. He also said DoNER Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia will join the two-day business conclave, scheduled for July 9 and 10.
Around 500 business leaders, including foreign investors, are expected to participate in the ‘Destination Tripura: Business Conclave -2026’, aimed at attracting investments for industries in the northeastern state, Saha told reporters here.
The business summit will be held at Badharghat international fair ground in West Tripura.
“Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia will attend the mega business conclave along with other senior officials of the Union government,” he said. The state had attracted an investment of Rs 8,000 crore, out of Rs 30,000 crore of business proposals made in the last business summit. “The investors and entrepreneurs are keen to join the business conclave and invest in the northeastern state, taking advantage of an industry-friendly atmosphere – be it law and order or availability of raw materials or simplified government policies,” he said.
If investment continues to come, employment opportunities and gross state domestic product will increase automatically, which will pave the way for an all-round development process in the frontier state, Saha said. Earlier in the day, the chief minister held a meeting with the senior officials, including Chief Secretary JK Sinha and DGP Anurag Dhankar, to review the preparedness for the mega event.
Officials of several departments gave presentations on the investment prospects in their respective fields.
Over the past two months, the Industries and Commerce Department organised various business promotion-related events outside Tripura to make the conclave a grand success.
