DIMAPUR: Directorate of School Education (DSE) and Samagra Shiksha (SS), in collaboration with Dream a Dream (DaD), a non profit organisation, concluded the four day Phase 2 training of the State Resource Group (SRG) on Social Emotional Learning (SEL) at the SCERT Office, Kohima, from June 9 to 12.
According to a press release from DaD, the initiative formed part of ongoing efforts to strengthen inclusive and supportive school systems across Nagaland. The experiential programme brought together 33 trainers from Educational Block Resource Centres and two DIET lecturers, who will lead the next phase of teacher capacity building.
Building on earlier training, the second phase focused on deepening educators’ understanding of SEL and preparing them to support implementation at scale. Facilitated by DaD, the sessions emphasised self awareness, empathy and classroom practices that foster emotionally safe and engaging learning environments.
Participants engaged in reflective and practice based exercises to strengthen their ability to respond to students’ emotional and developmental needs. Officials from Samagra Shiksha highlighted that strengthening educators’ social and emotional competencies is key to improving student wellbeing, building confidence and creativity, and fostering stronger classroom relationships.
The trained SRG members will now support SEL implementation across 176 pilot schools and contribute to upcoming teacher training programmes in Nagaland, expanding the state’s efforts to integrate SEL into everyday teaching and learning.
