DIMAPUR: Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Shamator carried out a series of agricultural activities across Chessore block to promote improved farming practices and enhance productivity.
The programmes included field demonstrations on the application of organic manure, bush management, banana bunch management, integrated pest management (IPM), and the cultivation of sweet corn, capsicum and zucchini. Capacity building sessions on mushroom cultivation and coffee production were also conducted in Huker and Chessore villages.
Farm Schools on banana and coffee were inaugurated in the two villages to facilitate farmer to farmer learning and adoption of best practices. To encourage group based farming, Farmer Interest Groups (FIGs) were formed and seed money distributed to support collective agricultural activities and improve livelihoods.
