DPDB Longleng reviews census 2027, approves key projects

DIMAPUR: The monthly meeting of the District Planning and Development Board (DPDB), Longleng was held at the DPDB hall on Tuesday under the chairmanship of B. Bangtick Phom, MLA and Advisor for Airways & Railways, with A. Pongshi Phom, MLA, also present.
According to a DIPR report, vice chairman DPDB & Deputy Commissioner, W. Manpai Phom, chaired the meeting, reviewed the minutes of the previous sitting and welcomed members, including new entrants. He congratulated B. Bangtick Phom on assuming charge as DPDB chairman and A. Pongshi Phom on his appointment as advisor to the Chief Minister.
Addressing the gathering, Pongshi Phom highlighted the significance of the ongoing census exercise, stressing that every individual must be enumerated at their place of residence in line with guidelines. He said accurate data was vital for effective planning, equitable distribution of resources and future development. He urged officers entrusted with census duties to carry out responsibilities with sincerity and impartiality, while calling on all departments to extend full cooperation.
Chairman Bangtick Phom emphasised accountability and directed all Heads of Departments (HoDs) to remain stationed at their respective headquarters to ensure efficient service delivery, coordination and timely implementation of programmes.
During the meeting, the house approved the shifting of GPS Namsang C to the EAC office building, the LADP 2026 27 scheme, registration of the Phom Sports Association under the Society Registration Act, construction of Astro Turf at Longleng, and creation of a Sub divisional Horticulture office at Tamlu.
T. Shahnyu Phom, Sr. Supervisor, Department of Social Welfare, presented a PowerPoint on departmental programmes and activities.
The Board also reviewed developmental issues and deliberated on matters relating to the overall progress of the district.
