Nagaland-based indie pop/rock band SunDay has officially entered the original music scene with the release of its debut single, “Maybe (Again),” marking a significant milestone after years of performing together and developing its musical identity.
Penned by guitarist Imsuakum Kichu in 2022, the song remained on hold until the band decided the time was right to bring it to life. Four years later, in 2026, the track was recorded, produced, mixed and mastered by Pongtsu Jamir in Nagaland, becoming the trio’s first official release.
The debut single explores the emotions of loving someone who can never truly be yours. Rather than focusing on dramatic heartbreak, Maybe (Again) reflects on the quiet ache of longing, unanswered questions and feelings left unspoken. The song presents an honest portrayal of enduring love that persists even without a happy ending.
SunDay comprises vocalist Nukshijungla Kichu, guitarist Imsuakum Kichu, and drummer Yathi Lemtur. While each member draws inspiration from different musical influences and genres, the band has developed a distinctive sound that blends indie pop and indie rock with heartfelt storytelling and emotional depth.
Before venturing into original music, the trio spent several years performing together, building the musical chemistry that now shapes both their songwriting and live performances. Those experiences, the band said, laid the foundation for a style that prioritises authenticity over trends while creating music with lasting emotional appeal.
The band’s name, SunDay, reflects the idea of new beginnings. Just as Sunday signals the start of a new week, the band hopes each of its songs can inspire fresh memories, emotions and personal stories for listeners.
With Maybe (Again) serving as the opening chapter of its musical journey, SunDay is already working on additional singles, with plans to release an extended play (EP) followed by a full-length album.
For the band, the debut release represents not a destination but the beginning of a long-term creative journey.
