DIMAPUR: Assam Rifles, in collaboration with Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Peren and ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre Jalukie, organised a Farmers–Scientists Interaction Programme at KVK Peren under the North Eastern Hill Scheme.
The programme aimed at creating awareness among the farming community on modern agricultural practices, latest technologies and advancements in veterinary and livestock management to enhance productivity and sustainable livelihoods. Scientists shared insights on scientific farming methods, animal healthcare, livestock management and improved techniques. Agricultural inputs were distributed to beneficiaries to support farming activities.
A team of 10 scientists interacted with farmers, addressing concerns and queries. The initiative witnessed enthusiastic community participation and served as a platform for knowledge sharing and capacity building. Assam Rifles reaffirmed its commitment to empowering rural communities and contributing to socio economic development in remote areas.
Meanwhile, in Kohima, Assam Rifles conducted a Blood Group Testing Drive for students of Mount Olive College on June 26, 2026.
According to Assam Rifles source, the event was organised in response to a request from the college authorities. The drive aimed at promoting health awareness and preventive healthcare among students. A dedicated medical team carried out blood group testing for a large number of students, enabling them to know their blood groups-an important aspect of personal health records crucial during emergencies and blood donation drives.
The medical team also educated students on basic health practices, hygiene, nutrition and the importance of regular check ups. The initiative was well received by students and faculty, with the college administration expressing gratitude to Assam Rifles for its contribution to student welfare.
