Tana Bana Expo inaugurated at Pfutsero

DIMAPUR: Tana Bana District Handloom Expo (DHE) was officially inaugurated on July 13 at the Baptist Theological College (BTC) ground, Mission Compound, Pfutsero, by Rev. Dr. Chekrovei Cho O, executive secretary of the Chakhesang Baptist Church Council (CBCC).
According to a press release from NHHDC Ltd., the exhibition is organised by the Nagaland Handloom & Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd. and sponsored by the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handlooms), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, New Delhi. The expo will run till July 18, 2026.
The event brought together a diverse contingent of 40 skilled participants, including master artisans and weavers from various districts across Nagaland. The venue features an extensive display of traditional handloom fabrics and unique handicraft products, each reflecting the region’s rich cultural legacy, intricate craftsmanship and tribal identities.
Beyond celebrating cultural heritage, the primary objective of the expo is to build robust and sustainable marketing channels. The initiative seeks to bridge the gap between rural craftsmen and contemporary buyers by establishing holistic linkages that connect local talent to both domestic and international markets.
By creating viable commercial opportunities, the exhibition aims to enhance the economic empowerment of grassroots weavers and artisans, ensuring the long term growth and resilience of Nagaland’s traditional handloom and handicraft sectors.
