KOHIMA, JUL 13 (NPN): Football fans in Nagaland are set for a unique FIFA World Cup 2026 viewing experience as the Department of Tourism gears up to host the state’s only officially licensed public screenings of the tournament’s semi-finals and final at the Naga Heritage Village, Kisama.
The screenings will be held on July 15, 16 and 20, with gates opening at 9 pm, live performances beginning at 10 pm and kick-off at 12:30 am.
The Department of Tourism has secured the exclusive legal rights for public screening from Zee Entertainment, the official rights holder for FIFA World Cup public screenings in India, making it the only authorised organiser of commercial public screenings in Nagaland. Officials informed that Nagaland and Meghalaya are the only two states in the Northeast to have obtained the official licence for the event.
Designed as more than just a football screening, the three match nights will feature live music performances, interactive fan activities, food stalls and prize giveaways to recreate a stadium-like atmosphere at Kisama.
Local artistes will perform ahead of kick-off each night. Moko Koza will headline the entertainment on the final night, while Sentiein Kichu will perform during both the semi-finals and the final. Anonymous Jamir, Tolu Yeptho and Arenchenla Jamir will also take the stage during the semi-final programmes.
Fans can also participate in penalty shootout challenges; raffle draws and online match prediction contests throughout the tournament.
A total of 24 premium gift hampers worth more than Rs. 10,000 each will be distributed from the quarter-finals through the final. Three winners will be selected after every match.
As part of the prediction contest, winners of the Round of 16 will receive two passes to the first semi-final. Quarter-final winners will receive two passes to the second semi-final along with premium gift hampers worth over Rs. 10,000. Semi-final prediction winners will receive two passes to the final and premium gift hampers, while winners of the final prediction contest will receive premium gift hampers worth more than Rs. 10,000.
Food and beverage stalls will be operated by Kisama House Restaurant and Synergy Group throughout the event.
Tickets have been categorised into Gold and Silver. Gold tickets, priced at Rs. 3,000, are limited to 150 seats, while Silver tickets are priced at Rs. 200. Students producing valid identity cards will be eligible for concessional Silver tickets.
Tickets are available at One Bit, Equipment & Sports, Kisama House, Rhododendron Resort, D Café, the Directorate of Tourism and also will be available at the venue.
Fire safety personnel, a first aid booth, police personnel and volunteers from the Southern Angami Youth Organisation (SAYO) will be deployed during the event to ensure the safety and smooth management of the venue.
Ahead of the opening match night, the Department of Tourism conducted a full-scale dry run on Monday to test the giant screen, audio-visual systems, lighting, seating arrangements and other event logistics, ensuring everything was in place before the gates open at 9 pm on Tuesday for the first semi-final.
