NSDMA forecasts thunderstorms, heavy rainfall in parts of Nagaland

DIMAPUR, JUL 14 (NPN): Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has forecast thunderstorms, lightning and intermittent rainfall across the state from July 15-18, 2026.
In a press release, NSDMA said localized thunderstorms accompanied by light to moderate rainfall were likely over several districts on July 15.
It said moderate to heavy rainfall was expected at a few places in Longleng and Mon, and residents have been advised to remain alert and avoid unnecessary travel during adverse weather.
NSDMA stated that weather conditions were expected to improve across most districts on July 16, although light to moderate rainfall was likely at a few places in Kohima, Noklak, Peren, Tseminyu, Tuensang and Zunheboto districts. Scattered intermittent rainfall is also expected in Noklak and Zunheboto.
On July 17, NSDMA said localized thunderstorms, lightning and light to moderate rainfall were expected in Kohima, Longleng, Mokokchung, Noklak, Phek, Shamator, Tseminyu, Tuensang and Zunheboto districts. NSDMA advised residents to exercise caution.
Further, it said thunderstorms and light to moderate rainfall were expected to continue on July 18, especially in Kohima, Longleng, Mokokchung, Mon, Tseminyu, Tuensang and Zunheboto districts. Light rainfall is also likely at a few places in Kiphire, Noklak, Peren, Phek and Shamator districts.
