Moava issue: CPO to hold peaceful rally on July 17

DIMAPUR, JUL 15 (NPN): Chakhroma Public Organisation (CPO) has announced it would hold a peaceful rally at Jharnapani (New Medziphema) on July 17, 2026, at 10 am to protest against the non-acknowledgement of traditional landowners and the state government’s alleged lackadaisical attitude regarding the ongoing issue with Maova village.
In a press release, CPO general secretary Nivizolie Meyase said the rally also aims to remind Maova village that the Chakhroma Public Organisation, as traditional landowners, remains firm and resolute in protecting its ancestral rights and would not compromise on the matter.
After a brief programme at the Peren-NU Medziphema campus road junction, CPO said participants would proceed to the office of the additional deputy commissioner Medziphema, where a memorandum would be submitted to the government.
CPO has appealed to all tribal bodies and right-thinking citizens to participate in the peaceful protest and support the cause of safeguarding ancestral rights.
