NSCN (IM) condemns SFs ceasefire violations

DIMAPUR, JUL 15 (NPN): The NSCN/GPRN has strongly condemned what it termed as ongoing harassment of civilians by Indian security forces in TM Kasom village, Makuilongdi and surrounding areas.
In a statement by the MIP of NSCN (IM) , the group alleged that security personnel carried out unauthorized raids, door‑to‑door searches without judicial warrants, militarization of residential areas and the abduction of four civilians. It said such actions constitute grave violations of fundamental human rights, stressing that civilians deserve protection, not persecution.
The NSCN/GPRN accused the Indian armed forces of repeatedly violating the Ceasefire Ground Rules, turning peaceful villages into “zones of fear and control.” It reminded that the ceasefire agreement is a bilateral arrangement and not a license for unilateral military action.
Terming the violations a serious breach of trust that undermines the credibility of ongoing peace talks, the group urged the Government of India to clarify whether it seeks peace through force or through genuine dialogue. It reiterated that the Naga people remain committed to pursuing their political aspirations “at all costs.”
The NSCN/GPRN demanded an immediate and independent investigation into ceasefire violations, strict adherence to the ceasefire agreement, and international and independent human rights monitoring in affected areas. It maintained that a lasting and honourable solution to the Indo‑Naga political issue must be built on trust and respect for differences, rather than “the barrel of a gun.”
