Mon DPDB welcomes new chairman, approves key development proposals

DIMAPUR: The Mon District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) meeting was held on July 16, at the DC’s Conference Hall under the chairmanship of advisor Geology & Mining and DUDA, W. Chingang Konyak, who assumed charge as the new DPDB chairman.
According to a DIPR report, on behalf of the members, DC Mon Wennyei Konyak welcomed the new chairman and assured full cooperation for the success of the district under his leadership. In his address, the chairman appealed to officers and members to extend full cooperation for the successful implementation of government schemes and policies in the district. He also urged members to regularly attend DPDB meetings and propose innovative schemes for the district.
The chairman also presented prizes to meritorious students of Class 10 and 12 under Mon district.
The meeting began with a review of the previous minutes, followed by deliberations on new agendas.
After thorough discussion, the board approved and forwarded proposals for: Introduction of Arts stream at New Model College Wakching; Creation of a Primary School at Longwa village; Construction of a PWD road (1.5 km) at Tobu town.
The board also discussed and approved schemes under LADP 2026-27, including Iconic and Skill Development projects for all nine Assembly Constituencies under Mon district.
Review meeting for I-Day celebration
In view of the upcoming 80th Independence Day celebration at Mon district headquarters, a coordination meeting was convened by DC Mon, Wennyei Konyak, on July 16, at the DC’s Conference Hall.
During the meeting, works distribution for the celebration was carried out successfully. The DC requested all Heads of Departments to coordinate with one another to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the event.
It was also decided to conduct a mass social work on August 8, at Mon Town as part of the preparations.
