DIMAPUR : Naga People’s Front (NPF) Tseminyu division convened a high profile leaders’ meeting at Tseminyu Town Hall on July 18, drawing party functionaries, leaders and workers from across the state and district. The meeting underscored the party’s commitment to regionalism, unity and the developmental progress of Tseminyu district.
The programme was chaired by John Wanth, associate press secretary, Central Press Bureau, with welcome address by Piekie Kath, general secretary, COB Asst. In charge, Tseminyu Division. In his introductory note, Benjamin Lorin, vice president, COB In charge, stressed that NPF remains deeply rooted in regionalism, clarifying that the merger was undertaken in the people’s interest. He highlighted pressing developmental challenges in Tseminyu and called for loyalty to the party, while emphasizing inclusive governance and greater representation of women.
Former minister and core committee member R. Khing noted that regional parties have consistently championed people’s interests and urged unity in the Rengma region to ensure a decisive mandate for NPF. Ar. Loguseng Semp, ex candidate and CEC member, thanked the RPP for its unconditional decision to join NPF, stressing collective welfare over personal interests. Kvulo Lorin, chairman NIDC, reiterated chief minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio’s vision to unite contending parties.
Additional speeches were delivered by Hyusin Thyug (general secretary Farmers Wing), Khwenhile Kent (president Women Wing), Sokenye Kent (president Youth Wing), Ruth Thong (chairperson, Tseminyu Town Council), and Ndotsu Kent (working president, Tseminyu Division).
The house, led by resolution committee convenor Shatilo Kent, unanimously adopted resolutions reiterating the call for an early, honourable and inclusive solution to the Naga political issue; endorsing the leadership of party president and chief minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio and secretary general Achumbemo Kikon; enforcing party discipline with violators liable to action; and declaring that assurances regarding party tickets for the next Assembly election shall only be decided on consensus, with unauthorized promises subject to strict disciplinary proceedings.
