DIMAPUR: Kohima Youth Association of St. Francis de Sales Parish (SFS), Kohima Town organised a two day Children’s Summer Camp at St. John’s School, Merhülietsa under the theme “Ultimate Spiritual Athlete 2026”, from July 18 to 19, 2026.
The camp aimed to help children discover what it means to “run the race of faith with courage, discipline and love” through two days of faith, friendship, learning and fun. A Holy Mass was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Mathew Mhabemo, Parish Priest, who in his sermon connected faith with the FIFA World Cup Final, reminding children that while sports heroes inspire, Jesus remains the true hero.
He urged them to nurture the “good seeds” of talents and creativity while remaining obedient to parents and elders.
The camp featured activities including fun games, Bible stories, worship, team building, zumba, choir competition, dance battle, skits, drawing and talent shows. It concluded with encouragement for children to live out values of faith, friendship and discipline in daily life.
Meanwhile, the Catholic Youth Association (CYA), Tobu, under the aegis of the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC), organised a three day Children’s Summer Camp from July 17 to 19, 226 at Holy Redeemer Parish, Tobu under the theme “Rooted and Build Up.”
The camp sought to nurture spiritual growth by strengthening children’s understanding of Catholic teachings and encouraging them to remain rooted in Christian faith and values. Altogether, 133 children participated in sessions led by Rev. Fr. Kevishi Solomon, Sr. Cicily Kamei (SABS), Changku Augustine, and David Jongo, focusing on faith formation and Christ centred living.
The programme included daily worship, Bible skits, quiz competitions, group discussions, interactive sessions, outdoor games and recreational activities.
The camp concluded with a solemn Holy Eucharist followed by prize distribution during the valedictory programme.
