DIMAPUR: In preparation for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls, 2026, a one day training programme for Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and BLO Supervisors was conducted on July 17, 2026 at the office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Pughoboto.
According to DIPR report, the training aimed to equip election officials with the knowledge and procedures required to carry out a comprehensive revision of electoral rolls in accordance with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India (ECI).
The programme commenced with registration of participants, followed by an introductory session highlighting the significance of the Special Intensive Revision with reference to the qualifying date of October 1, 2026. Addressing the participants, James T. Khulu Tikhir, ADC and District Election Officer, underscored the importance of maintaining a clean, accurate and inclusive electoral roll. He urged BLOs to discharge their responsibilities with sincerity, impartiality and diligence to ensure that every eligible citizen is enrolled while preventing inclusion of ineligible persons.
Technical sessions were led by Yithachu Thur, Sub Divisional Officer (Civil) and Electoral Registration Officer, and Zuvito Tsuqua, Master Trainer, who provided a detailed overview of the SIR process, its phases, field verification procedures, documentation requirements and the roles and responsibilities of BLOs.
P. Baulen Phom, Assistant Programmer, DEO Pughoboto, familiarised participants with the use of the BLO Application to facilitate efficient field operations and timely submission of electoral data.
Officials highlighted the key objectives of the SIR exercise: ensuring no eligible voter is left out, preventing enrolment of ineligible persons, and enhancing the accuracy and quality of voter data. The SIR timeline for Nagaland was also explained, outlining the phased implementation of the revision exercise.
The training concluded with an interactive session where participants clarified operational procedures and discussed field level challenges.
