WOKHA, JUL 21 (NPN): A 10-day free cricket coaching clinic for Under-19 boys and girls is currently underway at the All Weather Cricket Practice Pitch, Public Ground, Wokha, drawing enthusiastic participation from young aspiring cricketers.
The programme, which began on July 20, is being organised by the Wokha District Cricket Association (WDCA) in collaboration with the Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA) to promote cricket at the grassroots level and nurture emerging talent in the district.
Sessions are being conducted by BCCI A-Level certified coach Nihal Ahmad from the NCA, assisted by Strength and Conditioning coach Sulanthung E. Kithan. Senior Wokha cricketers Nzanthung Mozhui, who has represented Nagaland in the Ranji Trophy, and Romokhon are also contributing to the training. Participants are receiving structured coaching in batting, bowling, fielding, fitness and other essential aspects of the game.
To support the young players, the WDCA is providing free lunch throughout the camp, while the NCA has deputed qualified coaches and supplied cricket kits.
WDCA president Chenithung T. Lotha expressed gratitude to the NCA for its continued support in strengthening grassroots cricket in Wokha.
He encouraged parents and guardians to enrol their children, noting that registration remains open and can be done at the venue from 8:00 am. The clinic will continue over the coming days.
