DIMAPUR: Assam Rifles undertook a series of programmes across Nagaland reflecting its commitment to national integration, youth empowerment and community outreach.
At Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Nihokhu, Assam Rifles organised a National Flag Hoisting Ceremony to commemorate National Flag Adoption Day. The event witnessed the participation of 15 teachers and 290 students. The Tricolour was hoisted followed by the singing of the National Anthem, creating an atmosphere of pride and respect. Personnel highlighted the significance of the National Flag as a symbol of unity, sovereignty and democratic values, encouraging students to uphold constitutional ideals. The programme concluded with distribution of refreshments, fostering camaraderie between Assam Rifles and the local community.
At Sub P B Chhetri, Kirti Chakra Centre of Excellence (NIEDO), Ghaspani, Assam Rifles welcomed the 3rd batch of students to commence their academic journey. The Centre of Excellence aims to provide quality coaching and mentorship to deserving students, preparing them for competitive examinations and higher education. Students were urged to remain dedicated and disciplined, while Assam Rifles reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing youth potential through education, leadership and character building.
Meanwhile, six newly commissioned Young Officers of the Assam Regiment undertook an orientation visit to Kohima Garrison on July 22. The programme began with a wreath laying ceremony at the Assam Regiment War Memorial, followed by interactions with Maj Gen H S Mavi, IGAR (North), and senior officers. The officers also visited the historic Kohima War Cemetery and were briefed on the Battle of Kohima, before concluding with a visit to Kisama Heritage Village. The orientation provided insights into the Force’s operational legacy, leadership values and Nagaland’s cultural heritage.
Through these initiatives, Assam Rifles reinforced its role in promoting national pride, empowering youth and fostering strong bonds with the people of Nagaland.
