Midland Youth Sports Meet 2026 kicks off in Kohima

DIMAPUR, JUL 22 (NPN): The three-day Midland Youth Sports Meet 2026, organized under the theme “Promoting Unity, Fellowship and Sportsmanship through Sports”, commenced on Wednesday at the premises of Mezhür Higher Secondary School Kohima. The event, hosted by the Midland Youth Organization (MYO), will run till July 24.
Youth from the colony will compete for champion titles in basketball and penalty shootout events.
Gracing the opening ceremony, Thungdeno Mezhür Sekhose lauded MYO for fostering unity through sports and urged players to strive for excellence. She also called upon Midland residents to extend their support for a vibrant and strong community.
MYO president Ako Koso (Madi) highlighted that the meet aims to nurture the skills and talents of youth while motivating them to excel in higher-level sporting events.
The inaugural function was chaired by Kevisier Thapo, with pastor of Midland Baptist Church, Neisalie Rossi, invoking blessings. A special number was presented by Mezanuo Ngukha, while MYO games and sports secretary Nourhekhotuo Liezietsu administered the oath to participating teams.
The closing ceremony on July 24 will be graced by chairman of Midland Council Menuokholie Kire.
