DIMAPUR: Ao Officers Telungjem (AOT), in collaboration with the Nagaland Skill and Entrepreneurship Development Mission (NSEDM), organised a one day sensitisation programme on skill development at Town Hall, Mokokchung on July 22 under the theme “Know your skills. Know your opportunities.”
Speaking at the event, DC Mokokchung Ajit Kumar Verma underscored the critical importance of skill development in a rapidly changing world. He said acquiring new skills was vital to achieving the vision of a developed Nagaland and India. Despite fertile land, rich natural resources and strong social capital, he noted that the state was not producing enough goods.
He appealed to youth to acquire multi sectoral skills to drive socio economic growth, while stressing the need to adopt advanced skills suited for the era of automation, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT).
He called for a supportive ecosystem involving families, colleges and local institutions, and commended AOT and NSEDM for the initiative. He also thanked Chief Secretary Sentiyanger Imchen for prioritising skill development.
The inaugural session was chaired by Er. Pangjungkala Longchar, SDO, PWD (NH), with invocation by Dr. Butesan Ozukum, secretary, ABAM Youth Ministry. Imosong Imsong, Joint Commissioner (Taxes) and vice president, AOT, shared the purpose and objectives of the programme.
The technical session was moderated by Er. T. Imlisunep Ao, principal, ITI Mokokchung. Meripeni Ngullie, Under Secretary & Project Lead, NSEDM, spoke on shifting paradigms in job opportunities and employment, while Nukholo Swuro, Mission & Training Coordinator, NSEDM, detailed available skilling opportunities.
Success stories were shared by local entrepreneurs Limamatsung and Akumtemsu (founders, L&A Repair & Services), along with Talirenla (freelancer, drone mapping).
The programme also featured an interactive Q&A session and concluded with a vote of thanks by I. Lipokonen Jamir, Joint Director (Agri) and vice president, AOT.
