DIMAPUR: Advisor for Water Resources, Tongpang Ozukum, on Saturday visited landslide affected areas under Chuchuyimlang administrative jurisdiction.
During his visit to the massive landslide at NH 2 (181.100 km) between Chuchuyimlang and Unger, Tongpang interacted with district administration and PWD (NH) officials to assess possibilities of restoring the highway. Officials informed that since the landslide occurred in a subsidence zone, the damaged road was beyond restoration and required diversion.
The Advisor also interacted with Village Council members of Chuchuyimlang and Unger, appealing them to provide land for diversion of the highway. He urged the councils to extend full support and cooperation for early restoration, noting that closure of NH 2 has disrupted transport of essential commodities and goods to Mokokchung, Zunheboto and Tuensang districts.
Tongpang further visited the landslide affected stretch on the road towards Longleng and Mon via Salulamang from Nagaland Gandhi Ashram junction, Chuchuyimlang Town. He assured Salulamang Village Council of early restoration of the road.
He was accompanied by SDO (C) Changtongya Sangpangchang Longkumer, EAC Chuchuyimlang, SDO and officials of PWD (NH), party workers, vice chairman and members of Urban Station Chuchuyimlang Town, chairman and members of Chuchuyimlang Village Council, and members of Unger Village Council.
