ENPO urges early Assembly session for FNTA legislation

DIMAPUR, JUL 29 (NPN): The Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) has urged the Nagaland government to convene a special session of the Legislative Assembly without further delay to enact legislation for the constitution of the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA).
In a press communiqué, ENPO appreciated the state cabinet’s July 6 decision to confer legislative autonomy on the FNTA in accordance with the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA). It also noted that consultations between the state government and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) under Clause 3.3 of the MoA had progressed positively and were in the final stage.
The organisation recalled that the government had announced its decision to convene a special Assembly session to enact legislation conferring legislative powers on the FNTA over the transferred subjects.
ENPO expressed hope that the forthcoming Independence Day would stand as a testament to the trust, commitment and integrity of all stakeholders in honoring and implementing the MoA signed on February 5, 2026, in New Delhi.
It also recalled that its proposed public rally on July 10 was deferred in response to appeals from the state government, ENLU convenor and Rajya Sabha MP, and said it had honoured those appeals in good faith. ENPO expressed hope that all stakeholders would now fulfil their commitments towards constituting the FNTA in both letter and spirit.
The organisation further appealed to the state government and the MHA to expedite the constitution of the FNTA in line with the vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047” and the principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayas, Sabka Vishwas.”
