KOHIMA, JUL 30 (NPN): Sazolie College, Phezhü Jotsoma, held its Graduation Day on Thursday at Vineizono Hall, celebrating the academic achievements of its graduating students.
The programme began with an academic procession, followed by the college anthem and an invocation by assistant professor, Department of Education, Ajungla Jamir.
In his address, principal of Sazolie College, Dr. Gopal Chetri, congratulated the graduates and said that graduation should be viewed not as the end of an academic journey but as the beginning of a new phase of life, encouraging them to move forward with confidence and purpose.
Presenting the academic report, academic dean Dr. Puspanjoli D. Nakhro congratulated the graduating students for their outstanding performances and highlighted the college’s academic accomplishments during the academic year.
Delivering the commencement address, Pro-Vice Chancellor, School of Agricultural Sciences, Nagaland University, Medziphema Campus, Prof. Dipak Sinha urged the graduates to pursue their careers with determination, adaptability and a commitment to excellence. He encouraged them to explore emerging opportunities and use their knowledge and skills to address challenges within their communities while making meaningful contributions to society.
The ceremony also witnessed the formal conferment of degrees on the graduating students, followed by the presentation of academic honours.
Among the awardees, Talirenla of the Department of Psychology secured the first position with a CGPA of 9.60 and received the Management Topper’s Award. Bendanglemla and Khrotsho-u Lasuh secured the second and fourth positions with CGPAs of 9.43 and 9.13 respectively. Other notable achievers from the Department of Psychology included Watimen I. Longchar, who secured the fifth position with a CGPA of 9.08, and Yapangsenla, who secured the eighth position with a CGPA of 8.66.
From the Department of Political Science, Esther T. Ezung secured the third position with a CGPA of 9.27, while Pezavino Nagi secured the ninth position with a CGPA of 8.88.
The Alumni Academic Excellence Award was presented to Talirenla, while the Student of the Year Award was conferred on Bendanglemla.
The programme was chaired by assistant professor, Department of Political Science, Edward P. Sangtam. It featured musical presentations by Akhrülü Swuro of the Department of Political Science and Benchumo T. Ezung of the Department of History. Talirenla delivered the valedictory address.
The ceremony concluded with a benediction by Sazolie College chaplain, Nzanthung Kikon.
