DIMAPUR: Sainik School Punglwa conducted its Inter-House Basketball Championship for the Junior, Sub-Junior and Girls categories from July 21 to 29, promoting healthy competition, sportsmanship and camaraderie among cadets.
The championship was inaugurated and concluded in the presence of the school’s Principal, Col (Dr) Smita Misra, who attended both the opening and final matches.
In the Sub-Junior category, Pauna House emerged champions after defeating Shilloi House in the final. Their consistent performance and teamwork throughout the tournament earned them the championship title. Cadet Keneinguzo Pienyu was adjudged the Best Player in the Sub-Junior category for his outstanding performance and leadership on the court.
In the Junior category, Saramati House defeated Doyang House in the final to clinch the championship. The team’s disciplined display, strategic gameplay and coordinated efforts helped them secure the title. Cadet Lijingse Sangtam was named the Best Player in the Junior category in recognition of his exceptional skills and agility.
The Girls’ final also drew enthusiastic support from cadets and faculty members, with participants displaying impressive skill and determination on the court.
The championship concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, during which Principal Col (Dr) Smita Misra presented awards to the winners and runners-up in recognition of their performances.
The school stated that the championship provided cadets with an opportunity to develop their sporting talents while reinforcing values such as discipline, perseverance, teamwork and leadership, which are essential both on and off the court.
