NE NSS Festival 2026 concludes in Kma

KOHIMA, JUL 31 (NPN): The five day North East National Service Scheme (NSS) Festival 2026, organised by State NSS Cell Nagaland and Kohima Science College, Jotsoma, in collaboration with the Regional Directorate of NSS, Guwahati under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, concluded Friday at RCEMPA, Jotsoma.
Gracing the valedictory programme as special guest, Roko Angami, OSD, Department of Youth Resources & Sports and former international footballer, said it was a privilege to be part of the occasion marking the successful conclusion of the festival. Congratulating the organisers, he said the theme “Viksit Bharat” reflected the vision of building a modern, empowered and developed India by 2047.
Angami described the Northeast as the crown jewel of India, endowed with rich biodiversity, vibrant cultures and immense human potential. He stressed that nation building required collective efforts from all sections of society, and urged students to become architects of tomorrow’s India by respecting cultural heritage, protecting the environment and using technology for social welfare. He said the festival served as a bridge breaking barriers of distance and language, bringing together youth under one national vision.
He reminded participants that the dream of “Viksit Bharat” was a shared responsibility, achievable through unity, hard work, innovation and patriotism. He encouraged volunteers to uphold honesty, respect diversity, maintain cleanliness, protect public property and contribute actively to their communities.
The programme was chaired by Langphoang, UDA, Youth Resources & Sports, with invocation by Likumcha Yim, Programme Officer, NSS, Kohima Science College, Jotsoma. Team Mizoram, winners of the folk dance competition, presented a cultural performance, while Nüveta Khüsoh, Event Coordinator, delivered the vote of thanks. Altogether, more than 360 NSS volunteers from all Northeastern states participated in the festival.
Competition results: Folk Dance – Mizoram (1st), Arunachal Pradesh (2nd), Assam (3rd); Folk Song- Nagaland (1st), Meghalaya & Manipur (joint 2nd), Assam (3rd); PowerPoint Presentation- Assam (1st), Tripura (2nd), Sikkim (3rd); Extempore- Assam (1st), Arunachal Pradesh (2nd), Nagaland (3rd).
