DIMAPUR: Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF), led by president Nuheymong Yim and the executive team, visited Mon district to assess the extensive devastation caused by recent catastrophic landslides, which claimed nine lives and left widespread destruction. According to ENSF media cell, during the visit, the Federation inspected affected areas and interacted with victims, local authorities and communities.
ENSF expressed profound grief and condolences to bereaved families, particularly those whose loved ones remain unrecovered despite days of relentless search and rescue operations. The Federation conveyed appreciation to Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio for his prompt visit and assurance of relief to affected people.
It also thanked the Chief Secretary, Home Commissioner, NPSC, Department of Technical Education and Eastern Nagaland Legislators’ Union (ENLU) for their responsive engagement. ENSF further acknowledged the intervention of the Advisor for Transport and the Indian Army, whose efforts facilitated helicopter services for stranded students appearing for examinations amid severe disruption. Expressing grave concern over the impact on education, ENSF noted that several institutions had suffered extensive damage, rendering buildings unsafe and disrupting academic activities. Many students lost records, documents, textbooks and uniforms. The Federation urged the government and concerned departments to immediately assess damages, provide financial and logistical assistance for reconstruction, and facilitate replacement of lost academic documents.
ENSF reiterated solidarity with the people of Mon District and affirmed its commitment to supporting relief, rehabilitation and restoration efforts, hoping collective action would help communities rebuild with renewed strength and resilience.
