DIMAPUR: A sensitization programme on Vector Borne Diseases under the National Vector Borne Diseases Control Programme (NVBDCP) was held at Town Hall, Bhandari on July 30 under the theme “Fight the Bite, Defeat Vector Borne Diseases.”
According to DIPR report, delivering the keynote address, EAC Bhandari, Kilangtemsu, noted that the medical department, with support from the district administration, has remained proactive in preventing vector borne diseases in the subdivision by initiating localized awareness campaigns and organizing social works to maintain sanitation, a clean environment, and public health safety.
Dr. Imnapokim, Joint Director & SPO, NVBDCP Kohima, while speaking on causes of transmission, symptoms, prevention and treatment of malaria, dengue, and Japanese Encephalitis (JE), stressed that the climatic condition of Bhandari is favourable for mosquito breeding. He urged all stakeholders to share responsibility in keeping diseases at bay and to properly utilize anti mosquito materials provided by the government.
Highlighting the benefits of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccine, Dr. Imkongtemsu Longchar, Joint Director, UP, pointed out that the vaccine helps prevent cervical cancer and ensures a healthier future for young girls.
The programme was attended by councillors from Bhandari Town Council, representatives of Bhandari Town Lotha Hoho, Eloe Hoho Bhandari, GBs, church leaders, villagers, and health workers from the medical department.
The session was chaired by Dr. Lichamo K. Tungoe, Dental Surgeon, CHC Bhandari.
