Nagaland Shooting Championships conclude in Dimapur; 31 shooters qualify for NE Zone meet

DIMAPUR: The 11th Nagaland Shooting Championships 2026 concluded at the Aries Sports Complex Shooting Ranges, Bamunpukhuri-I, Dimapur, after four days of competition held from July 27 to 30.
The championship was organised by the Aries Rifle and Pistol Shooting Academy (ARAPSA), Khelo India Centre, and conducted by the Nagaland Rifle Association (NRA).
A total of 66 shooters, including 15 women and 51 men, competed in 36 rifle and pistol events, showcasing the growing popularity and improving standard of shooting sports in Nagaland.
In the overall medal standings, ARAPSA emerged as the overall champion with an impressive haul of 40 medals. Ladybird School Shooting Academy (LBSSA) secured second place with 16 medals, followed by Kohima District Shooting Association (KDSA) with 10 medals. Sungratsu Shooting Association (SSA) finished with five medals, while Peren District Shooting Association (PDSA) claimed one medal.
Based on their performances at the championship, 31 shooters have qualified to represent Nagaland at the 13th North East Zone Shooting Championships, which will be held in Guwahati, Assam, from August 25 to 30.
The championship was conducted under the technical supervision of qualified officials from the Nagaland Rifle Association and served as a qualifying event for higher-level competitions, while also promoting the sport of shooting across the state. The organisers expressed gratitude to all participating teams, athletes, technical officials, volunteers, parents and supporters for their contribution to the successful conduct of the championship. They also extended their best wishes to the 31 qualified shooters who will represent Nagaland at the forthcoming North East Zone Shooting Championships.
