SCRPCR convention to shape child protection policies: NHRC member

Itanagar, Aug 1 (PTI): National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Member Priyank Kanoongo has said the policy recommendations and deliberations emerging from the two-day Regional Convention of the State Commissions for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) will shape child protection policies and strengthen institutional mechanisms across the country for the next two decades.
Addressing the valedictory session at the Kalawangpo Convention Hall here on Saturday, Kanoongo expressed confidence that children benefiting from these measures would grow into empowered, responsible citizens capable of contributing to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
The two-day regional summit, organised by the Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (APSCPCR), brought together chairpersons, members, and senior officials from SCPCRs across the North Eastern states. The discussions focused on bolstering child protection frameworks through inter-state cooperation, knowledge sharing, and synchronised action, an official release said.
Lauding the APSCPCR for establishing a common regional platform, Kanoongo noted that the outcomes of the convention would serve as a benchmark for child welfare initiatives nationwide. During the technical sessions, state representatives shared case studies, best practices, and suggestions to address emerging challenges affecting children in the region.
