Churachandpur, Aug 1 (PTI): The body of a 33-year-old man, who was swept away by flood water in Manipur’s Churachandpur district, was recovered on Saturday, officials said.
Thangjohnson of New Lamka Vengnuam South was swept away by the swollen waters of the Lanva river on Thursday evening when he was attempting to retrieve construction materials that had been washed away by the strong current during embankment construction work, they said.
Search operations had been underway to find him since Friday morning.
His body was recovered by volunteers of a local organisation in the Tuitha river near Khominthang village, officials said.
