Norman Putsure College, Chümoukedima, welcomed its new batch of students by organising Freshers’ Day 2026 on August 1 under the theme, “Enchanted Bloom.”
The programme began with a formal session during which Principal Dr. Timothy Langwangbe encouraged the freshers to pursue academic excellence, embrace personal growth and actively participate in campus life. The formal programme featured a welcome song by the seniors, an address by senior representative Mark Kikon and a special musical performance. Speaking on behalf of the freshers, Temsunenla Jamir expressed gratitude for the warm reception and shared her excitement for the academic journey ahead.
The event continued with an informal session hosted by Benjamin Yekato Awomi and Mercy Ao. A major highlight of the celebration was the Mr. and Miss Fresher competition, which comprised traditional, casual, formal and final rounds, allowing contestants to showcase their confidence, creativity and personality.
The programme also featured a variety of cultural and entertainment performances before culminating in the announcement of the winners. S. Tsoiniu Grace Khiam of the Sociology Department and Machiting of the Political Science Department were crowned Miss and Mr. Freshers 2026, respectively. Sharon Apon and Moaakum, both from the Department of Education, were declared the first runners-up, while Temsunenla Jamir of the English Department and Enithung of the Political Science Department were named second runners-up.
The celebration concluded with a dinner attended by students, faculty members and guests, marking the beginning of a new academic journey for the freshers.
