RH appeals against use of derogatory terms on Nagas

DIMAPUR, AUG 2 (NPN): Rengma Hoho has appealed to Nagas to refrain from using derogatory terms such as “duplicate Nagas” and “kutcha Nagas” while referring to fellow Nagas, saying such expressions hurt the sentiments of their own brothers and sisters.
In an appeal, Rengma Hoho president Gwasinlo Thong said the organisation was pained to observe that such terms were increasingly being used on various media and digital platforms, particularly by Nagas in Nagaland, to describe Nagas from across the border.
The hoho maintained that the term “Naga” was an inherent intellectual property right of every Naga, irrespective of where he or she belonged, and could not be regarded as the personal property of any country, state, tribe, clan or village.
It, therefore, appealed to every Naga to refrain from adopting attitudes that belittle one another and instead encourage a sense of universal brotherhood among all Nagas.
