DIMAPUR, AUG 3 (NPN): The Konyak Civil Societies comprising the Konyak Union (KU), Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong (KNSK) and Konyak Students’ Union (KSU) in collaboration with the district administration, organized a felicitation programme at the Council Hall, Mon Town, to honour Wangshem Konyak for his outstanding achievement in international football.
Born at Tanhai village in Mon district, Wangshem Konyak brought immense pride to the Konyak community and the nation by emerging victorious in two of the most prestigious world youth football tournaments — the Helsinki Cup in Finland and the Gothia Cup (World Youth Cup) in Sweden earlier this year. He was the only Naga to participate in these tournaments, making his achievement a historic milestone.
The felicitation programme was graced by Deputy Commissioner of Mon, Wennyei leaders of the Konyak Civil Societies, students and well-wishers. Speakers lauded Wangshem’s dedication and perseverance, describing his success as a moment of international recognition for the Konyak people and India.
Pangai Konyak, Press Secretary of the Konyak Students’ Union, highlighted that Wangshem’s achievement serves as an inspiration for the younger generation to pursue their dreams with commitment, resilience, and self-discipline. He urged youth to strive for excellence and work with dedication to achieve success.
