NSDMA steps up restoration,relief across affected districts

DIMAPUR, AUG 6 (NPN): Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) said restoration of road connectivity and distribution of relief materials were continuing across several monsoon-affected districts in coordination with district administrations, district disaster management authorities (DDMAs) and line departments.
According to NSDMA, road restoration, debris clearance and damage assessment were being carried out on a priority basis to restore connectivity and reduce the impact of landslides and flash floods.
In Kohima, it said landslides and mudslides were reported from Kenouzou colony, DBS Road near T. Khel Kharu, Lower Chandmari colony and Phesama. Partial road blockages were also reported along NH-29 near the Dzüdza River and the old KMC dumping site.
Daily debris clearance at Phesama landslide is being undertaken by NHIDCL, while NHIDCL and PWD (NH) are jointly clearing affected stretches of NH-29. Mitigation and restoration works are continuing, NSDMA informed.
In Tuensang district, heavy rainfall has completely cut off the road connecting Tuensang village and Haak, with authorities assessing the damage for restoration.
In Peren district, the district administration and DDMA distributed relief materials to an affected household at Beilikui Ward while road clearance and landslide restoration works continued.
In Phek district, PWD (R&B) restored connectivity after clearing a major landslide near Tsundang village.
In Longleng district, road clearance was carried out along the Anakhai-Shemnyuching road. However, the Tamlu-Anakhai-Shemnyuching route remains blocked, with restoration efforts continuing.
In Noklak district, DDMA cleared a landslide along the 14-km stretch of the Noklak-Saddle road. Connectivity has also been restored on the Nokhu-Aniashu and Noklak-Langnok roads, while restoration work is continuing in other affected areas.
NSDMA said it would continue coordinating with district authorities to expedite restoration work and facilitate relief distribution. It advised the public to remain vigilant, avoid unnecessary travel through landslide-prone areas during the monsoon, and follow advisories issued by the respective district administrations.
