DIMAPUR: A meeting of the District Water and Sanitation Mission (DWSM) in connection with the 16th Finance Commission was held on August 6, 2026 at the office chamber of the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, chaired by DC B. Henok Buchem.
According to DIPR report, the meeting discussed the need for convergence among line departments for effective implementation of activities under the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP). It was decided that the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) would prepare the GPDP annual action plan village wise and submit the village list to the Rural Development Department for uploading on the GPDP portal.
Deliberations also covered the GPDP preparation process, portal uploading, timelines and coordination among departments.
It was emphasised that all concerned line departments should be actively involved and kept informed to ensure timely completion of the process.
The selection of GPDP projects, it was noted, should be based on the needs of rural communities and aimed at providing maximum benefit to the people.
Deputy Commissioner directed PHED to finalise the GPDP action plan in connection with the 16th Finance Commission and stressed the importance of adhering to prescribed timelines.
Further discussions and coordination among departments will be undertaken to facilitate smooth implementation.
