DIMAPUR: Nagaland Library Association (NLA) has informed that National Librarians’ Day will be observed across the country on August 12, 2026, commemorating the birth anniversary of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, the Father of Library Science in India. On this occasion, the NLA extended greetings to all library professionals across the state, appreciating their dedication to advancing education, lifelong learning and information services.
The Association noted that despite their vital contributions, many library professionals in Nagaland continue to face limited recognition, inadequate support and insufficient professional opportunities. NLA encouraged library professionals and rural libraries to register or renew their membership to collectively strengthen the profession in Nagaland. It also reaffirmed commitment to assist libraries with professional guidance, development and related services. Calling upon policymakers, educational institutions and the public, NLA urged recognition of libraries as essential pillars of development and investment in infrastructure, professional recognition and better service conditions.
