DIMAPUR, AUG 10 (NPN): Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) on Monday forecast intermittent thunderstorms and rainfall across several districts from August 11-14, with localized thunderstorms, lightning and light to moderate rain at scattered locations.
On August 11, thunderstorms, lightning and light rain were likely in several districts, with light rain at a few places in Chümoukedima, Dimapur, Meluri, Mokokchung, Mon, Niuland, Peren, Phek, Shamator, Tseminyu, Tuensang, Wokha and Zunheboto.
Kiphire, Kohima and Longleng could also experience thunderstorms and light rain.
On August 12, similar conditions were forecast, with light to moderate rain possible in Dimapur and Longleng and thunderstorm activity in Kiphire, Kohima, Mokokchung, Mon, Niuland, Tseminyu and Wokha.
On August 13, scattered light to moderate rain was likely, with thunderstorms and lightning in Longleng, Mon, Niuland, Tseminyu, Tuensang and Wokha. No active warnings were expected in Kiphire, Kohima, Meluri, Noklak, Peren, Phek and Shamator.
On August 14, thunderstorms, lightning and light to moderate rain were likely in Longleng, Mokokchung, Tseminyu, Wokha and Mon, while Zunheboto could receive thunderstorms and light rain.
NSDMA urged residents of low-lying, foothill and riverine areas to remain alert for flooding, waterlogging, flash floods and landslides.
