DIMAPUR: Planning & Transformation Department, Government of Nagaland organised an orientation programme for candidates selected to undergo UPSC coaching at Vajiram & Ravi, New Delhi at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat Conference Hall, Kohima on August 10.
A DIPR report informed that, 30 candidates have been selected out of 120 who appeared for the test.
Addressing the programme, Principal Secretary and Development Commissioner Y. Kikheto Sema, reminded the candidates that while they were presently students, he saw them as future officers and leaders who would play a vital role in serving the people and leading the State. He urged them to trust in God, respect their parents and elders, study diligently, manage time effectively and remain disciplined, stressing that success comes through hard work and perseverance.
Kikheto highlighted that the State Government has been supporting indigenous students preparing for competitive examinations under the Chief Minister’s Corpus Fund (CMCF) for the past four years, with around Rs. 277 lakh spent, including the current year. He informed that Rs. 64.5 lakh had been earmarked for the present batch of candidates selected for coaching at Vajiram & Ravi. He said the candidates were chosen through a merit based process following an examination conducted on July 25, and added that their attendance and performance would be closely monitored, with a minimum requirement of 90 per cent attendance.
Calling the candidates an investment in the future of Nagaland, Kikheto urged them to make the best use of the opportunity and bring honour to their parents, communities and the State.
Joint Development Commissioner Heinswading congratulated the 30 selected candidates out of 120 who appeared for the test, and encouraged them to approach the programme with sincerity, discipline and responsibility. He said coaching at Vajiram & Ravi, one of the premier civil services institutions in the country, would provide them a valuable platform to learn, compete and interact with aspirants nationwide.
Heinswading appreciated the Government for investing in the aspirations of youth, describing the initiative as an investment in the future generation. He urged the candidates to strive for excellence and return with positive results to contribute to the State and nation.
The programme also included the signing of undertakings by the candidates, followed by an interactive session with questions, sharing of experiences and discussions. The selected candidates expressed gratitude to the Government and the Planning & Transformation Department for the opportunity, pledging to put in sincere efforts towards achieving their goals and serving the State and nation.
