The North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), Dimapur, will host “Rhythms of Freedom”, a Tiranga Charity Concert, on August 15 from 5 p.m. at the NEZCC Stone Sculpture Garden, Dimapur, as part of the nationwide Har Ghar Tiranga campaign.
The concert is being organised to raise funds for families affected by recent natural disasters across Nagaland. Addressing a press conference on Monday, NEZCC Dimapur director Alobo Naga said the programme was not merely a cultural event but an initiative to extend support to families affected by landslides, flash floods and other calamities.
“Landslides, flash floods and other calamities in recent months have displaced thousands, destroyed homes and disrupted livelihoods. Behind every statistic is a family, a story that deserves our compassion,” he said.
Alobo informed that entry tickets have been priced at Rs 100, with 100 per cent of the proceeds to be utilised for relief efforts for disaster-affected families across the state. Tickets will be available online through Ahibi.in as well as at the venue.
He said those unable to attend the concert could also contribute through NEZCC’s social media platforms and designated donation links.
A number of prominent artistes will perform at the concert free of cost in support of the initiative. The line-up includes Nise Meruno, Sunep Lemtur, Hentok Konyak, Colored Keys, Lenen Jamir, Kivika Achumi, Cantamus Choir, Tetso College Choir, 5 Minutes Band, Hoiying Walim, Musik-A Voice Teachers and comedian Hopong Naga, among others.
Adding to the theme of unity in diversity, various community organisations in Dimapur representing Marwari, Bihari, Bengali, Tibetan-Bhutia, Nepali, Gorkha, Dimasa, Punjabi and Muslim communities will present cultural performances.
The event will also feature food stalls by the Nagaland Street Food Vendors Association, beverages from Nagaland Coffee and a dedicated children’s zone, making the programme family-friendly. Alobo further informed that NEZCC would organise similar programmes at different locations across the Northeast under the campaign, including events at Shilpgram in Guwahati, to mark Independence Day and Partition Horrors Remembrance Day.
Appealing to citizens to participate and contribute generously, Alobo said the concert sought to build a sense of collective solidarity. “Your ticket will be more than an entry pass; it will be a gesture of hope,” he said, adding that the initiative aimed to send a strong message that when one part of Nagaland suffers, the entire state stands together.
