DIMAPUR, AUG 10 (NPN): Unity FC emerged as champions of the Lobenkokba Memorial Morning Champions Cup 2026 after defeating Eagle FC 4-2 in the final match played at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima. The tournament was organized by the Morning Football Association.
In a thrilling contest, Unity FC’s Kezevituo, Velukho, Honaito and Mako each netted a goal to secure victory, while Eagle FC’s Zapu scored both goals for his side. Kezevituo, who scored 10 goals throughout the month-long tournament, was awarded the Golden Boot, while his teammate Kekhrie received the Golden Glove award.
The closing ceremony was graced by major Anshuman of the 13th Assam Rifles, who handed over trophies to the winners alongside MFA president Burakum Ao. The programme was chaired by vice president of the Morning Football Association, Lipokzulu.
Unity FC’s triumph marks a memorable conclusion to the prestigious morning football event, celebrating sportsmanship and community spirit in Kohima.
