DIMAPUR, AUG 14 (NPN): Nagaland governor Nand Kishore Yadav has called for collective efforts to build a peaceful, progressive and prosperous Nagaland, emphasising unity, youth empowerment, women’s participation, environmental protection and stronger institutions.
In his message on the eve of India’s 80th Independence Day, Yadav urged people to renew their commitment to justice, equality and democracy, and to become active partners in the state and nation’s development.
He noted India’s progress over eight decades in agriculture, industry, science, space exploration, education and healthcare, as it strives toward the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. He said Nagaland’s vibrant cultures and resilient communities had an important role in this journey, identifying youth, women, farmers, entrepreneurs, artisans and public servants as key contributors.
The governor highlighted the potential of Nagaland’s youth, citing growing emphasis on education, skills, entrepreneurship and innovation, and stressed creating an environment for them to realise their aspirations.
He underscored women’s participation and leadership across sectors as essential to an inclusive society, and described farmers and rural communities as the economy’s backbone, calling for improved productivity and market access.
Yadav also flagged infrastructure, digital connectivity, healthcare and social welfare as vital to quality of life, urging greater citizen participation. He identified unemployment, substance abuse, environmental degradation and social divisions as challenges requiring collective, not just governmental, action.
Emphasising Nagaland’s community spirit and heritage, he called for preserving identity while embracing change, and urged mutual respect and harmony among communities. He acknowledged security forces, healthcare workers, teachers and civil servants as “unsung heroes” contributing to society’s safety and development.
Stressing that Nagaland and India’s future depended on unity beyond tribe, region, language, religion and political lines, Yadav said India’s strength lay in diversity. He urged citizens to use the occasion to reaffirm commitment to youth opportunities, women’s empowerment, environmental protection and the rule of law. “Let us work together to ensure that the benefits of development reach every village, every family and every citizen,” he said, extending Independence Day greetings and calling for its observance with pride, gratitude and renewed resolve for future generations.
