DIMAPUR: Ajit Rajagopal, an MSW student of the North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR), participated in PEACE 2026 at the World Social Forum (WSF) held from August 4 to 8, 2026 in Cotonou, Benin, West Africa, as part of the Peace Builders Forum India delegation.
The Indian delegation included Rajaji, Anil Hebbar, Indira Das Gupta Cherukuni, Priya, Dr. Ravichandran, Dr. Mani and Ajit Rajagopal, along with Dr. Jill Carr Harris, Aneesh Kumar, Jenmajay Singh, Vishwan Cherukuni and members of partner organisations.
PEACE 2026 was developed as a collaborative initiative involving organisations working in peacebuilding, nonviolence, social justice and inclusive development.
Partners included Rethinking African Security (RRAS), Home for Humanity, Ekta Parishad, Mahatma Gandhi Canadian Foundation (MGCF), International Land Coalition, Gandhigram Rural Institute and Peace Builders Forum India.
The workshops addressed interconnected themes such as peacebuilding and nonviolence, women’s leadership, youth leadership and social action, peace education, and inclusive economic development.
Discussions explored the role of cultural values in grassroots peacebuilding, women as agents of social change, etc.
