The Creators for Community Initiative under the Nagaland Influencers Summit (NIS) 2026 has raised approximately Rs. 7.5 lakh through a collective fundraising campaign for families and communities affected by the recent landslides and related hardships in Mon district.
A team of content creators, artists, volunteers and community representatives travelled to Mon to take the relief campaign from the digital space to the ground, conducting field visits, verifying affected households and facilitating direct financial assistance.
The initiative, organised under the NIS 2026 theme, “Beyond Influence: Creating Change Together,” seeks to encourage content creators, artists and other talented individuals to use their platforms, skills and resources for meaningful community action.
The Rs. 7.5 lakh raised represents a consolidated relief fund generated through several community-led efforts. The campaign began with grassroots outreach, including a one-hour street collection in Kohima, where members of the content creators’ community collected Rs. 24,500 from the public and local businesses.
The campaign later expanded online through the #150ForMon initiative, encouraging people to contribute according to their capacity. A multi-hour livestream featuring musicians, performers, comedians, artists and content creators further helped mobilise funds.
The Nagaland Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) gaming community contributed Rs. 16,000, while musicians, artists, creators, well-wishers and members of the public contributed through their respective networks. Donations received from within and outside Nagaland were consolidated into the overall relief fund.
The organising team said it has been maintaining transaction records and reconciling contributions received through multiple payment channels, including different QR codes necessitated by UPI transaction limits.
Ground-level relief
Upon reaching Mon, the team conducted ground surveys and visited affected colonies to identify households requiring assistance. During the first phase, the team reached 32 families, with families that had lost members receiving immediate financial assistance of Rs. 10,000 each. A total of Rs. 3.25 lakh was disbursed directly to affected households.
Local content creators and community representatives Tinglem and Chonngam assisted the team in verifying affected families and collecting bank account details to facilitate accountable fund transfers.
The team also extended its outreach to Tizit, where, along with local Dobashi representatives, it visited three elderly-care facilities. Recognising the additional difficulties faced by senior citizens during a crisis, the team presented cheques totalling Rs. 2.50 lakh towards their care and daily requirements.
Assistance for Naginimora
The team could not travel to Naginimora due to hazardous road conditions. However, assistance for the area remains part of the ongoing relief effort. More than 30 affected families, covering 37 severely impacted households, have been identified, with arrangements being made for direct electronic transfers.
A virtual prayer and fellowship programme is also planned in coordination with the residence of the Naginimora Students’ Union president before the transfers are made.
With more than Rs. 5.75 lakh already mobilised for direct assistance and related relief efforts, the NIS team said the current exercise constitutes the first phase, with further assistance planned for other affected areas of Mon district.
The Creators for Community Initiative was conceived as part of NIS 2026 even before the Mon landslides, with the broader objective of encouraging content creators, artists and other talented individuals to undertake community-oriented initiatives across Nagaland.
Following the landslides, the NIS team and participating creators decided to make Mon one of the initiative’s first major relief efforts.
The organisers said the initiative was not intended to position content creators as sole responders to humanitarian situations, but to demonstrate how digital platforms, creative skills, networks and community reach can complement the efforts of citizens, local leaders, organisations and other stakeholders.
The team said its visit to Mon was aimed not only at distributing financial assistance but also at listening to affected families, assessing their needs and ensuring that funds raised through public support were utilised responsibly.
The NIS team expressed gratitude to all contributors, including donors, performers, volunteers, technical teams, public outreach groups and social media supporters.
The Creators for Community Initiative will continue with additional community-focused activities across Nagaland as part of NIS 2026 under the message, “Beyond Influence. Creating Change Together.”
