
DIMAPUR: State College of Teacher Education (SCTE), Kohima held its 3rd Graduation Day for the B.Ed Class of 2026 on August 12, where altogether 44 student teachers received their degrees.
Prof. Gyanendra Nath Tiwari, Head of the Department of Teacher Education, Nagaland University, Kohima Campus, Meriema, graced the occasion as the graduation guest. He conferred the B.Ed degrees on the graduating student teachers and addressed the gathering.
The programme was compered by Anisha Himb, Assistant Professor. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Khriezonuo Belho, Assistant Professor, followed by a congratulatory note from Dr. Asale Vitso, Assistant Professor. A special song was presented by the B.Ed 3rd Semester student teachers.
Rizi Sangtam delivered the graduates’ speech, while special awards were presented by Khrieno, Headmistress, Bayavu Higher Secondary School, Kohima. The four student teachers who received testimonial certificates this year included Rizi Sangtam, Amit Sonar, Razukhweto Tacu, and Imnanaro Aier.
The occasion also recognised the academic achievement of Swedezhonuo Kirha, who secured the 18th rank in the Top 20 list of Nagaland University B.Ed Examination 2026, and was awarded a Commendation Certificate.
Japfü Christian College (JCC), Kigwema held its Graduation Programme for the Class of 2026 on August 17 at ZAPA Indoor Stadium, bringing together graduating students, faculty, parents and well wishers to celebrate academic achievements.
In her address, Prof. Visakhonu Hibo, principal, congratulated the graduates and reminded them that the degree marked not an end but the beginning of a new chapter, urging them to strive for greater heights. Dr. Akho Yhokha, BOM treasurer, conveyed greetings on behalf of the Board of Management and encouraged students to embrace opportunities with confidence.
Delivering the commencement speech, Bodenos S. Colo, commissioner and secretary, department of Art and Culture, reflected on the college as a place where faith, education, character and service converge. She urged graduates to face a rapidly changing world with courage, humility and resilience, and to use their knowledge and values to serve society.
A highlight of the ceremony was the conferring of the Molhou Zhasa Award for Academic Excellence on Kedosekho of the Department of Political Science, the college topper. Degrees were conferred upon graduates from the Departments of Economics, Education, English, Political Science, History and Sociology. The programme also featured a valedictory speech by Kedosekho, followed by blessings and benediction by director, LIFE Ministries, Colo Mero
Meanwhile, Mount Olive College (MOC), Kohima hosted its 34th Freshers’ Social cum Graduation Ceremony 2026 on August 14 at the College Auditorium, organised in collaboration with the MOC Students’ Council and MOC Alumni Association. The event brought together graduating students, freshers, faculty, alumni and guests to celebrate both the beginning and completion of important stages in the students’ academic journey.
Prof. N. Venuh, Pro Vice Chancellor, Nagaland University, Kohima Campus, graced the occasion as guest of honour. In his address, he urged students to be serious, sincere and responsible, advising the graduating batch to remain confident yet humble, and encouraging freshers to study with purpose beyond marks and degrees.
The programme commenced with a processional and invocation by Rev. Edward Marüzü, alumnus and state secretary of Union of Evangelical Students of India (UESI). Greetings were delivered by Lovitoli Zhimo, vice principal, and Hipkha A. Sumi, general secretary of the Students’ Council. Kezhaseluo o Pienyü, alumnus and Naga Wrestling Champion 2026, delivered the commencement address, while K. Shiwoto Wotsa, chairman and managing director of the Governing Body, gave the congratulatory note. The programme also featured musical interludes, presentation of freshers and graduands, group photographs and valedictorian speeches.
Altogether 38 students graduated while 101 freshers were welcomed. Certificates for academic and overall excellence were presented along with incentives to outstanding students. Neikehenuo Pielie secured 4th rank in Sociology (NU, FYUGP) and was named Mount Olivian Batch Topper 2026, while Thujochilu Venuh was awarded Mount Olivian Student of the Year 2026. Certificates were also given to toppers of Sütsa Academy, Diploma Batch 2025. The formal programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Koseno, principal, and blessings from Lujeka Assumi, associate pastor (Youth), SBCK.
The afternoon session showcased student talents, with Ketouü Pfüsenuo, alumna and Miss Kohima 2022 (2nd runners up), as guest judge. Niboli Achumi and Imnaonen Imchen were adjudged Miss and Mr. Fresher respectively. The occasion concluded with benediction by Newtoli T. Jimo, chaplain and counsellor, MOC.
