NNC/FGN leaders extend greetings on 80th Naga I-Day

DIMAPUR: On the occasion of the 80th Naga Independence Day observed on August 14, the Naga National Council / Federal Government of Nagaland (NNC/FGN) extended greetings and called for unity among the Naga people.
In a press release, NNC/FGN president (Khedahge) Sukhai Awomi paid tribute to the sacrifices, courage and commitment of the forefathers and all those who dedicated their lives to the Naga national cause. It said their sacrifices remain an important part of history and remind Nagas of the collective responsibility to safeguard identity, dignity, heritage and future.
Sukhai urged all Nagas to rise above differences and divisions, and to strengthen the spirit of unity, mutual respect and collective responsibility. He emphasised that diversity in communities, traditions and cultures should be respected and preserved, while shared identity and aspirations should continue to bind Nagas together as one people.
The release further called upon Nagas to remain steadfast in preserving land, history, culture, traditions and values, and to work peacefully and responsibly for the welfare, dignity and unity of the people.
“This 80th Naga Independence Day should serve not only as a commemoration of our past but also as a renewed commitment to the generations to come,” Sukhai stated, noting that the occasion should inspire Nagas to strengthen unity and work towards a peaceful, secure and prosperous future.
Meanwhile, NNC/FGN ‘president (Khedahge)’ Tokuho Swu also extended greetings and respects to Nagas at home and abroad. He said the historic day reminded the people of the sacrifices, courage and determination of the forefathers who stood for the political identity, rights and aspirations of the Naga people.
Tokuho emphasised that the 80th Naga Independence Day was an occasion to reaffirm commitment to unity, peace, dignity and preservation of identity and heritage. He called upon the younger generation to uphold peace, unity and values handed down by elders, while working constructively for the future of the Naga people.
On behalf of NNC/FGN, Swu conveyed heartfelt greetings to all Nagas and wished for peace, unity and prosperity among the people.
